FraudFighter™ Warns Customers About Sub-Standard UV Bulbs

Posted by Sean Trundy on Jul 30, 2013 12:58:00 PM

GLENDORA, CA July 30, 2013 — FraudFighter™, a division of UVeritech, Inc. and a leading supplier of counterfeit currency detection equipment cautions customers about low quality, sub-standard, replacement UV bulbs.

“In 2011, due to quality and safety concerns, we upgraded our UV bulb production with a new production facility." said Sean Trundy, Chief Operations Officer of the company. "We also recalled tens of thousands of defective bulbs and replaced them with non-defective product."

FraudFighter has used the mark “UVF-861” openly and conspicuously in commerce since 2003, and claims that it was the first to do so. Unfortunately, the company that previously supplied UVeritech with its bulbs filed a trademark application in 2010, claiming ownership of the mark “UVF-861” and prior use since 2007.

UVeritech, Inc. has filed a cancellation motion with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. This action is currently open and pending.

Due to the uncertainty over the ownership of the previous mark FraudFighter is now using the alternative T5 UV16-POS15 part number on the bulbs.  The new part is simply a reference to the two light fixtures for which the bulb is used as a replacement part — The FraudFighter™ UV-16 and POS15 light fixtures.

FraudFighter customers should be cautioned that the prior manufacturer is actively soliciting sales of the older part number directly to FraudFighter users.  Due to the issues previously mentioned regarding safety and quality, FraudFighter will not be able to honor the product warranty of any UV-16 or POS15 product in which the incorrect replacement part has been installed.  This restriction will take effect as of August 1, 2013.

FraudFighter™ Announces Release of the T5UV16-POS15

Posted by Sean Trundy on Jul 30, 2013 12:57:00 PM

GLENDORA, CA July 30, 2013 — FraudFighter™, a division of UVeritech, Inc. and a leading supplier of counterfeit currency detection equipment today announced improved replacement bulbs for FraudFighter Products.  The new replacement part are brighter and are to be used with its current and previously produced UV light fixtures — The UV-16 and POS15 ultra-violet (UV) counterfeit detection scanners.

The new part number is T5UV16-POS15.

“Sometimes, from a negative situation, something positive can be gained,” said Sean Trundy, Chief Operations Officer of the company. “In 2011, due to quality and safety concerns, we replaced over 30,000 bulbs that were currently on the market or in use by our customers. Shortly thereafter, we improved our manufacturing and have continued to make improvements.”

The new T5UV16-POS15 bulb is smaller in diameter, and contains a higher concentration of the expensive rare-earth minerals required to produce UV light emissions. As a result, greater UV intensity is produced at lower electrical currents than was previously required.

The new T5UV16-POS15 bulb is completely backwards-compatible with the UV-16 and POS15 products produced by FraudFighter™.

FraudFighter customers should be cautioned that unauthorized dealers are actively soliciting sales of the older part number directly to FraudFighter users.  Due to the issues previously mentioned regarding safety and quality, FraudFighter will not be able to honor the product warranty of any UV-16 or POS15 product in which the incorrect replacement part has been installed.  This restriction will take effect as of August 1, 2013.
