Ambitious ID fraudster illicitly claims Government benefits

October 6, 2021 - Wichita Falls TX police arrested a suspect on suspicion she was engaged in an ID theft operation, using the information for fraudulent unemployment claims.  The fraudster had on her possession 50 pieces of victim information, including but not limited to counterfeit identification, mail, handwritten names, Social Security numbers, addresses, credit card numbers, and other spreadsheets with detailed victim information. 

Key Takeaway: Illicitly obtained identity information can be used to fraudulently apply for and obtain government benefits.  KYC database checks are not enough.  Perform government issued identity document scans to authenticate the person behind the data.
